Paddy Twomey has a lifetimes involvement in the Racing and Bloodstock industry. Having started out pin-hooking foals he proceeded to specialise is the production of Breeze Up Horses. All the while Paddy held a restricted trainers licence and raced a small number of horses on the track. Paddy has decided to make the step from bloodstock orientation to the ranks of a fully fledged trainer.

No trainer in the UK or Ireland can boast the results, strike rate or impact which Paddy Twomey has had since he started sending out runners from his base in Golden in South Tipperary.

  • 2018 returned 7 winners from 10 individual runners including the hugely exciting Decrypt.
  • 2017 returned 1 winner from 3 individual  runners.
  • 2016 returned 5 winners from 8 individual runners including Royal Ascot performer Van Der Decken.
  • 2015 returned 3 winners from 4 individual runners.

Denis G. Hogan is a native of Cloughjordan in Tipperary. Denis began his life in racing with his near neighbour Charlie Swan before being encouraged by Charlie to further his career with Mick Halford.

The burning desire to train was an itch that needed scratching so it wasn’t long before Denis took out his own licence and set up in his current yard in Boherna on the outskirts of Cloughjordan.

Now with 75 horses split across two yards under his care Denis has built a reputation as one of the best dual purpose trainers.

With an eye for value in the sales ring and an ability to astutely place horses to their best advantage, often to the chagrin of the bookmaking community, Denis has won some of the biggest handicaps in both codes.

Patrick Prendergast has served an apprenticeship second to none. Born into a racing family his grandfather Paddy “Darkie” Prendergast was one of the all time great Irish Trainers. His father Patrick and his uncle Kevin Prendergast made his younger years one of racing’s great inductions.

Patrick has capacity for 40 horses and runs a boutique hands on operation where every horse benefits from personal attention. Noted for the astute placing of his runners Patricks training stats are enviable. He is consistently a top performer in terms of winners to runners, win %, and top 4 performers.

2018 has been a breakthrough year for Patrick as he achieved his maiden Group 1 success as a trainer. That win came courtesy of Skitter Scatter when she ran out an impressive winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
